New academic year with new aspirations
ducation is key for a better society and country as a whole. Every child has the right tohave
education, but socio-economic and geographicalhindrance is one of the reasons for under-
Eprivileged to receive education. A school is the beginning step for any child to grow holistically
and access to school is a challenge to the most of them living in rural areas and backward families.
With a firm belief that every child is capable of learning and contributing to the country’s devel-
opment in varied forms, the Department of School Education, Telangana state is very conscious
and striving to improve education indicators of the state. Thus, the state government launched the
prestigious flagship ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ and Prof. Jayashankar ‘Badi Bata’ programme in 2022.
‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ programme’s objective is to improve the government school’s infrastructure.
Prof. Jayashankar's ‘Badi Bata’ programme aims to increase the student enrollment in govern-
ment-run schools with an effective canvas about government schools that are now imparting edu-
cation in the English medium. With the English language as the medium of instruction, the de-
partment of school education SCERT-Telangana has developed ‘Bilingual Textbooks’ for classes II
to VIII (English followed by Telugu and English followed by Urdu) to enable a smooth transition
from vernacular media to English medium.
All public representatives, district collectors, district officers, Mandal officers, school heads,
teachers, and other stakeholders of school education have been relentlessly working to improve
the school’s educational and infrastructural standards. I appreciate them and their parents for
joining their children in government schools. Also, as part of improving the academic standards by
filling the learning gaps, SCERT introduced a four-week Bridge course to students of classes 2 to
10.
Besides, our schools across the state provides an experiential understanding of lessons. Our
school heads and teachers are laying the road for students to explore, experiment, and experience
education in a new and meaningful way. As a result, our students across the state enthusiastically
participate and win laurels in various programmes like Telangana School Innovation Challenge,
Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Mathematics, and Environment Exhibition, Inspire, etc. This
edition gives you a glimpse of those who participated in these events. Most importantly, we are en-
joying the immense pride of our students who were selected for the ISRO Yuvika, Young Scientist
Programme, 2022. The May-June edition reads the experiences, learning, and ambitions of five
students in Telangana State who participated in the ISRO Yuvika, Young Scientist programme.
Furthermore, our vision is to not just enhance the academic understanding of students but also
ensure that they are mentally and physically fit. For this, we incorporated a Yoga class into the ac-
ademic curriculum. To encourage students, to practice yoga for their mental well-being, and improve
focus and confidence levels, the SCERT organized the Yoga Olympiad 2022, adhering to the guide-
lines of NCERT, New Delhi. The edition covers the programme and lists the winners of the Yoga
Olympiad.
We hope that the state government initiatives will further stimulate the learning outcomes and
spark the interest of students to grow holistically. Our school heads and teachers are to continue
the practice of modern teaching-learning methods for improving the quality of delivery.
