Yoga Olympiad 2022 Spotlights the

Significance of Mental Health

n the midst of the competitive world, mental
stress has become the most common problem
Iamong students. It is crucial to address this
issue, and schools should play a significant role in
doing so. The ability to cultivate a stress-free mind
can help improve concentration levels and com-
prehension capacities in students. To achieve this,
all schools in Telangana are practicing Yoga. It is
reckoned to be the right practice for safeguarding
students’ mental wellbeing. Students of all ages
are showing interest to learn different Asanas and
some of them desire to pursue it as a career.
Adhering to the guidelines from NCERT, the
State Council of Education Research and Train-
ing (SCERT) organized the State Level Yoga
Olympiad 2022 on 19th and 20th May 2022 at
Godavari Auditorium, SCERT, Hyderabad. It has
instructed all schools to conduct Yoga classes.The
two-day competition saw the Upper Primary and
Secondary students of government and govern-
ment-aided schools performing Yoga Asanas. A
total of 263 students from across 25 districts par-
ticipated in the competition. Three qualified
judges assessed each student at all levels of the
competition. The scores were consolidated after
two phases and finalized at each level. The win-
ning team was pooled by selecting the individual
candidates according to their scores. The selected
team is as follows.
