SPECIAL CHIEF SECRETARY
GOVERNMENT OF TELANGANA
FOREWORD
The Department of Education, Telangana is making efforts to ensure the
continuation of learning among the students of Telangana during the present Covid-19
conditions, prevailing for the second consecutive year when schools are not functioning
full-fledged. An Alternative Academic Calendar to be followed for the Academic year
2021-22 has been prepared taking the existing conditions of the state into consideration.
A lot of research on available resources and on the ways to optimize the utilization of the
same for the benefit of the students across the state went into the preparation of this
calendar.
Adopting the guidelines given by the Ministry of Education to suit the local
needs, this Alternative Academic Calendar is tailor made for the schools of Telangana.
It has been decided to strengthen the Alternative Academic Calendar by connecting to
Bridge Course.
Hence, SCERT has developed an 8 Week Alternative Academic Calendar
[4 weeks Bridge Course + 2 weeks previous class remedial teaching + 2 weeks Current
year syllabus teaching] for classes III to X along with Assessment.
Worksheets related to the themes suggested for their respective classes are attached
for the purpose of practice for the students and assessment of progress by the teachers.
However, teachers are at liberty to plan and implement their own strategies best
suited to cater to the individual needs of their students, taking this Alternative Academic
Calendar as a model.
Online links to useful sites, materials and textbooks are provided apart from the
QR codes for the benefit of the teachers and learners.
I hope the students and teachers of Telangana will find it useful and implement
the same.
June, 2021 Sandeep Kumar Sultania, IAS
Hyderabad. Principal Secretary, Education Department,
Govt. of Telangana.
