Activity-Based Learning is Transformed My School
A Speech of a Super Teacher
Edusure Team, SCERT Telangana
Hello everyone! My name is A. Sowjanya, and I am a teacher at MPPS Machareddy in
the Kamareddy district. It gives me great pleasure to share the successful journey of implementing
Activity-Based Learning in my school.
The Need for Innovation
Our school, located at the mandal
headquarters near the bus stand, has a
student body of 71 students with a staff of
four teachers, including one Headmaster.
The community is largely dependent on
traditional caste-based occupations. A
concerning issue we face is the widespread
consumption of toddy, even among children
in some villages, which has led to learning
difficulties in many students. The school’s
infrastructure is also in a state of disrepair,
requiring urgent renovation. I realized that
the traditional lecture method was not
effective, as it kept students in a passive role.
To address these challenges and make
learning more engaging, I introduced an
activity-based learning approach.
The Innovation
The idea for this innovation was entirely my own,
and I refined it by seeking inspiration from social
media, including videos and posts shared by other
educators. This approach encourages students to learn
by doing, which has significantly increased their
enthusiasm and participation. While this method
requires extra time and effort for planning and
preparing age-appropriate activities, the positive
response from students makes it all worthwhile.
The main goal of this innovation is to create a more
engaging, practical, and student-centered learning
experience. By moving away from rote memorization,
we focus on helping students understand and critically
