Introduction
The future of students is very challenging as the present age is the age of Information
and Communication Technology (ICT). ICT is universally acknowledged as an important
catalyst for social transformation and national progress. Instructional technology
will be the key to educational quality. As such Telangana State recognizes IT as
the fastest and the most advanced vehicle of change for all-round progress and development
of the State.
The National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL) has been set up under aegis of
National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi with an
objective to empower school leaders with knowledge, skills and attitudes to transform
Schools so that every child learns and every school excels. In this pursuit, School
Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) is being initiated nationwide across all
the levels of school education to build and enhance the capacity of school heads
on a long term and continuous basis.
To carry forward the SLDP in the States, the School Leadership Academy (SLA) has
been established in Telangana State as a nodal center. The SLA can be seen as state
based leadership development institution for providing sustainable, context specific
leadership development opportunities.
Mission:
Enhance leadership capability at school level for
institution building and to deliver quality education.
ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY:
(i) Organizes programmes of different durations for
School Heads, prospective School Heads of different kinds of management and Systemic
Administrators. .
(ii) Programme delivery of leadership development
consistent with the NCSL Curriculum Frame work on School Leadership Development
based on seven strands. .

(iii) Helping integrate local knowledge and expertise
with national practices and policies.
(iv) Facilitating in the creation of teams of resource
persons who can act as extended arm of the Academy organizing State/field/school
based workshops and for organizing activities in the districts.
(v) Engaging with Principals and HMs in networks and
professional learning communities.
(vi) To engage in Research activities in collaboration with Universities and Professional
institutes.
